Background of the Study

The rise of toxic feminist ideologies, which challenge traditional marital expectations and promote women’s autonomy, has presented new challenges for marriage counseling and therapy. While feminist movements have been instrumental in advocating for gender equality and women’s rights, toxic feminism, with its radical rejection of traditional gender roles, often promotes extreme independence at the expense of marital fidelity and family structures. This ideological shift has created a need for counselors to address these issues within the context of marital relationships.

Abuja, being the political and administrative capital of Nigeria, is home to a diverse population with varied attitudes toward marriage, gender roles, and family life. This study will examine how marriage therapy centers in Abuja approach issues arising from toxic feminist ideologies, focusing on their strategies for maintaining marital stability and addressing the challenges posed by these radical feminist perspectives.

Statement of the Problem

While marriage therapy centers play a critical role in resolving marital issues, there is limited research on how they address challenges arising from toxic feminist ideologies, particularly in Abuja. This study will explore how counseling approaches are adapting to these ideologies and the effectiveness of these approaches in promoting marital stability.

Objectives of the Study

To evaluate how marriage therapy centers in Abuja address issues related to toxic feminist ideologies.

To assess the effectiveness of counseling approaches in promoting marital stability amidst toxic feminist perspectives.

To explore the strategies used by therapy centers in helping couples navigate the challenges posed by radical feminist views on marriage.

Research Questions

How do marriage therapy centers in Abuja address issues arising from toxic feminist ideologies?

What counseling approaches are most effective in promoting marital stability in the face of these ideologies?

How do counseling centers navigate the conflict between traditional marital values and toxic feminist views?

Significance of the Study

This study is significant because it provides an in-depth examination of how marriage therapy centers in Abuja are adapting to the rise of toxic feminist ideologies and addressing the challenges these ideologies present for marital stability. The findings will be valuable for marriage counselors, therapists, and family practitioners seeking to understand and navigate the complexities introduced by feminist thought in modern relationships.

Scope and Limitation of the Study

The study will focus on marriage therapy centers in Abuja and how they address issues arising from toxic feminist ideologies. The research will not explore the broader implications of toxic feminism outside of the therapy context, nor will it examine rural areas or regions outside of Abuja. The study will be limited to counseling practices and will not address legal or economic factors influencing marriage.
